La Leche League

LLL of Northern California & Hawaii

La Leche League is an international, nonprofit, nonsectarian organization dedicated to providing education, information, support, and encouragement to women who want to breastfeed.

Membership in La Leche League International is $40 for one year. Membership fees help to support your local Group and the international organization. The benefits of membership include a one-year subscription to NEW BEGINNINGS magazine.

Our primary concern is that you have a successful breastfeeding experience, so feel free to contact a local Leader or attend a meeting regardless of your membership status.

La Leche League of Monterey Peninsula, California

All breastfeeding mothers and mothers-to-be interested in breastfeeding are welcome to come to our meetings or call one of our Leaders for breastfeeding help or information. Children and babies are always welcome at our meetings.

Meeting Information

Monthly meetings are ongoing. All women are welcome. We do suggest that you call to confirm the meeting date before attending, as occasionally meetings must be rescheduled.

Monthly topics are a series of subjects discussed on a rotating basis throughout the year. Each meeting, however, always covers the individual questions and needs of women attending, regardless of the specific topic.

Available at each meeting is an excellent library containing books on breastfeeding, pregnancy, birth, nutrition, and parenting. Our manual, The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding, recently revised, is available to borrow or purchase.

Meeting Information

LLL of Monterey Peninsula meets the second Wednesday of each month at 7:00 PM (gathering time 6:45 PM) at Parents' Place, 1025 Lighthouse Avenue, in Pacific Grove.

Directions to this meeting: Take Hwy. 68 into Pacific Grove: it becomes Forest Ave. Go downhill on Forest to Lighthouse, turn left. Just past the stop sign (17 Mile Drive), you will see a school on the left. Take the next left, Ridge Road. Go past the back of the three red buildings and turn into the driveway, which leads to the parking lot. Parents' Place has a fence in front.

Leader Information

La Leche League Leaders are experienced mothers who have breastfed their own babies and who have been trained and accredited by La Leche League International to help mothers and mothers-to-be with all aspects of breastfeeding. They are available by phone whenever you have breastfeeding questions or concerns.

  • For breastfeeding help from one of our accredited leaders or for further information, call (831) 373-0555.
