All women who have an interest in breastfeeding are invited to attend La Leche
League Meetings. All mothers and their children are welcome with open arms at meetings.
Each mother is encouraged to take from La Leche League philosophy what she feels works
for her and her family.
La Leche League of Redding offers:
- Monthly mother-to-mother support meetings
- Lending library
- Free telephone counseling from accredited Leaders
- The latest breastfeeding information
- Over 25 years of helping Shasta County families
Series Meetings:
In order to better serve our community, but at the same time put our families first, we
offer a variety of series meetings. No two series are exactly alike, since we are all growing
in our understanding of child development, mothering and family life. As we share our
knowledge
of mothering through breastfeeding, we can all learn and support each other during this
important
time in our family's lives.
The ideal time to begin attending meetings is during pregnancy, because the information
received
in advance may prove vital to a mother when her baby arrives. Pregnant women may find it
helpful to
attend a series of four meetings before the baby is due, and to obtain a copy of THE
WOMANLY ART OF
BREASTFEEDING.
Because our meetings are attended by newborns, we ask that you avoid bringing
contagiously ill
children to meetings. If you are unable to attend due to illness, please call or email a Leader
with
any questions you have.
Meeting Information
LLL of Redding meets on the second Thursday of each month at 10:00 AM at the
Breastfeeding Resource
Center in the Downtown Redding Mall, 1600 Market Street, across from Sringz Shoe
Store.
LLL of Redding is not offering evening meetings or Toddler/Enrichment
meetings at this time. If this
is something that you are interested in let us know.
Telephone Help
Some questions just can't wait! La Leche League Leaders are experienced breastfeeding
mothers accredited by La Leche League International to give information, support and
important
encouragement to mothers who desire to breastfeed their babies. If you have questions
between
meetings or need a friendly ear, please give us a call!
Leader Information
La Leche League Leaders are experienced mothers who have breastfed their own babies
and who have
been trained and accredited by La Leche League International to help mothers and
mother-to-be with all
aspects of breastfeeding. They are available by phone whenever you have breastfeeding
questions or
concerns. The Leaders volunteer their time in helping mothers; they will return your call
ASAP as time
allows, if they are not immediately available.
Please Note: When emailing a Leader, be sure to use a subject line like
"LLL" or
"Breastfeeding Question" so the Leader knows you're not sending spam!
